We Can Fish

Fishing for Children with Special Needs (2023-2024)

We Can Fish Inc.organizes fishing trips for children with special needs who might not otherwise have an opportunity to experience the joy of fishing, the beauty of nature, and the pleasure of being on the water. This grant will help us to provide fishing experiences to Coachella Valley children and their families. Our organization is growing. Last year because of Anderson's help we were able to hold an event in Big Bear. Coachella Valley children and their families were able to go out on boats on the lake and fish. We offered transportation for anyone who needed it. Once again we are excited to offer this event this year. We also will be holding several shore fishing events this year. These include; Lake Cahuilla in January, Lake Skinner in March, and a four week fishing clinic in conjunction with Parks and Recreation in the Spring. At these events we provide everything the child needs to fish, as well as on shore activities and lunch. Come join us as a participant or volunteer. You can register at

Our First Fishing Experience 2.0 (2022-2023)

The grant from Anderson's Children Foundation will allow us to take 40 special needs children and their families fishing on boats in Big Bear. Transportation for those who need it will be provided by the ACF from Indio. In addition, the grant provides us the opportunity to pair up with the national organization “Cast for Kids” to help us promote this event. It also ensures each participant will receive a hat, fishing pole, shirt, and tackle box. Receiving this grant also sets us up to be able to hold events at Lake Cahuilla and Lake Skinner during the year. We Can Fish strives to alleviate some of the responsibilities that are required when taking care of children with special needs, and just let the family have fun fishing and playing together in a totally different environment. The funds from ACF allows us to make that happen.

Our First Fishing Experience (2020-2021)

We Can Fish, Inc. organizes fishing trips for children and adults who might not otherwise have an opportunity to experience the joy of fishing, the beauty of nature and the pleasure of being on the water. We serve the disadvantaged and those with special needs, including the physically challenged, at-risk youth, and veterans with disabilities.

The Anderson Grant will allow us to work with, “Cast for Kids” to take 40 children on a fishing adventure of a life time. We will take the children and one chaperone to Big Bear Lake and they will be offered the experience of fishing on a boat. They will also receive lunch, t-shirts, and a fishing pole.
