Salvation Mountain

Noah's Ark Art Experience (2025-2026)

Almost fifty years ago, Leonard Knight was “sick of having God shoved down his throat” by his older sister, so he jumped into his camper van with the idea to run away, again! He didn’t know that God had a plan for him. Leonard was touched by God while he sat there pleading, “Jesus I’m a sinner, please come upon my body and into my heart.” Much like John the Baptist leading multitudes to repentance and baptism and Noah building an immense vessel dedicated to leading the world to salvation from a sinful life, God led Leonard on a mission to do the same.

Fifteen years of sharing God’s love and salvation through his hot-air balloon metaphorically landed him in the Sonoran Desert where he created Salvation “Love” Mountain, an evangelical monument for the world to share. God gave Leonard this vision to lead as many people as he could to God’s unconditional love and salvation. Leonard had spent a lifetime trying to bring happiness to those around him, especially the children. In fact, he had them in mind while he sculpted this amazing place. It’s big, colorful, and has a pathway that leads to the top.

It was also this idea that inspired the vision for his Noah’s Ark. This blank canvas offers a group of children the opportunity to explore and hone artistic skills, creativity and the story of Noah and his ark. Along with this hands-on time is a workshop experience including some basic skills involving math, science and more, from an activity book and finished off with some interactive fun including a scavenger hunt around the art. In the spirit of Leonard’s wishes the children can have fun, enjoy this place and let the mountain speak for itself.
