Oasis Elementary School

STEAM and Robotics Classroom (2019-2020, 2017-2018, 2016-2017, 2015-2016)

Oasis Elementary is a leader at improving all students with access to STEAM Subjects. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) We do this by offering the students a STEAM and Robotic classroom programs. The idea is to inspire and provide students with the resources, education, and life skills that will open doors to future scholarships and lead to opportunities as competitive industry professionals in a global economy. This is a ground breaking learning experience in STEAM using Robotics. The project uses Lego Mindstorms Robotics kits, NXT software, computers, technology, and various robotics-building materials. This classroom will be the first of its kind to involve students using STEAM in the development, building and programming of a multiple robots. Students will work hands-on in teams to design; build, and program robots. They will use technology to document their progress through the year.

In the 2016-2017 school year, Oasis Elementary School will focus more prominently on Quest-Based Learning. This model focuses on an individualized and flexible curricular experience in which students can select activities, called quests, rather than more traditionally-structured assignments. Students leverage choice to promote engagement rather than waiting for a due date. Quests can contain any combination of text, media, or experience and culminate with a practical artifact like a paper, speech, video, or project. This learning style revolutionizes the core curriculum, helps students engage with technology, and is proven to improve grades as well as student/teacher interactions. This leads to higher test scores, better school attendance, and brighter futures for students.
