Grief Counseling Outreach (2014-2015, 2013-2014)
The Mourning Star Center offers loving support to children, teens, and their families grieving the death of someone significant. We provide a safe place that encourages expression of grief and loss and nurtures an individual’s emotional well-being and resiliency. At the Center, children, teens and their families explore their grief creatively through art, physically through play, cognitively through grief related activities and verbally through talking with our staff, volunteer facilitators, and their peers. Off site, the Mourning Star Center provides school based grief support groups to those that can’t attend our center because of financial, transportation, or family barriers. The Mourning Star Center provides support to hundreds of grieving children, teens and their families each month.
