Mecca Library Maker Space (2026-2027)

The Mecca Library’s MakerSpace will create a permanent and open space for our tweens and teenagers that supports their creativity and strengthens their mental health and social skills. This project aims to develop a pathway from creative hobbies to long-lasting careers. Grant funds will be allocated to purchase supplies, materials, tools, and equipment including the first 3D printer in the Eastern Coachella Valley! The MakerSpace will be located in the library’s Teen and Tween Area. Library staff will use the MakerSpace for special crafts and activities to promote and provide educational hands-on workshops. As programs develop and become successful, the library will continue to secure further resources in order to improve access and equity for our unincorporated communities in the Eastern Coachella Valley.
