Mecca Library Maker Space (2026-2027)

Mecca Elementary School sensory room funding is to support the social-emotional, behavioral, and sensory regulation needs of students, with a primary focus on students in our autism and special education classrooms. During the 2025–2026 school year, autism classrooms were added to our school to allow students to attend the campus they are zoned for rather than being served at a centralized site. This transition has strengthened students' connections to their local school community while creating a need for additional sensory supports on campus. The sensory room will provide a safe, structured environment equipped with sensory tools, flexible seating, calming resources, and movement equipment to help students regulate emotions, increase engagement, and improve access to learning. The project will promote inclusion, reduce behavioral barriers, and support student success by providing essential resources that are not currently available at our school.
