FISH of the Lower Coachella Valley

Food, Storage, Payroll (2013-2014)

FISH is an organization that provides food to needy families in the Lower Coachella Valley, where many people lack access to sufficient nutrition. From its headquarters at Our Lady of Soledad Catholic Church, this program distributes food five days a week to registered families. A bilingual nutritionist is available one day a week to teach families how to serve well-balanced meals. FISH also gives new and used clothing, donated by local communities and organizations, to these families. The US Postal Service also partners with FISH on annual food drives, in which postal patrons are encouraged to donate extra food along their mail route. Of the nearly 26,000 people served by this program, almost 13,000 are under the age of 19, and many others are elderly. FISH’s focus on nutrition and balance helps these children to establish healthy lifelong habits and transcend their disadvantaged backgrounds.
