Anderson Children's Foundation

Desert Hot Springs High School

DHSHS Theatre Season (2026-2027)

During the 2026–27 school year, Desert Hot Springs High School Theatre will use Anderson Children's Foundation funding to produce the fall play A Monster Calls and the spring musical The Addams Family. These student-produced productions provide hands-on experience in every aspect of creating theatre, while also welcoming middle school students who currently have no theatre program in the district. Students perform, design, build, market, and manage productions, developing artistic, technical, and business skills through real-world collaboration. Grant funding will provide costumes, scenic materials, props, lighting supplies, professional artistic support, and other production resources that allow students to create work of a higher quality while gaining meaningful, hands-on experience. Rather than simply participating in a performance, students take ownership of the creative process from concept to curtain, learning problem-solving, communication, leadership, and teamwork along the way. The materials purchased through the grant will continue to serve future productions, while the experiences gained will prepare students for college, careers, and lifelong creative engagement. By expanding access to high-quality arts education and including middle school students who would otherwise miss these opportunities, this project strengthens both our theatre program and the creative community it serves.

Band Instrument Repair & Replacement (2025-2026)

The Instrumental Music Department of Desert Hot Springs High School is in need of instruments due to the rapid growing enrollment of the program. With this grant we can ensure students will not have to share instruments with another or rent them on their own. We will also be able to make sure that instruments are repaired and are in prime working condition for the students

Second Chance Algebra (2013-2014)

The Second Chances in Algebra Project uses methods of alternative learning to help Desert Hot Springs Students succeed at math. Each student receives a Chromebook, allowing them to complete special online projects and assignments. As a result, students learn to explore math in new ways while increasing their technological literacy. Parents also play a vital part in this system, meeting with counselors throughout the semester and helping their students stay on track with coursework. By increasing communication between parents, teachers, and counselors, this program provides many levels of support for participating students, allowing them to reach their full potential.
