Middle School Art Program (2023-2024, 2021-2022, 2017-2018, 2016-2017, 2015-2016)
The Desert Art Center (DAC), a non-profit cooperative artist gallery and education facility in Palm Springs, has provided free Art classes to Middle School students every year since 2012. For the 2021-2022 season, students may take Ceramics, Drawing & Painting, or Printmaking & Stenciling classes. Each four-week class is three hours long and is held at the Desert Art Center. The teachers are DAC members who are professional artists. Because of budget cuts, and most recently the pandemic, many students have limited opportunities for artistic development available at their schools.
The Middle School Art Program annually seeks to serve approximately 90 students from Palm Springs Unified School District as well as from private schools and home schools. Each class has 10 students and two teachers. Classes are taught generally during Fall, Winter, and Spring at the Desert Art Center, 550 N. Palm Canyon Drive, Palm Springs. Pre-registration is required.
