CREATE Elements in Art (2017-2018)

CREATE Center for the Arts is a new nonprofit arts center centrally located in Palm Desert California. It is located on Highway 111, offering the arts classes and events to adults and children of all ages. We are partnered with CV Art Scene as a fiscal sponsor. Our mission is… TO CREATE COMMUNITY ENRICHMENT THROUGH THE ARTS.

“Elements and Principles” is a summer program, based on a weekly after-school class that is currently being offered at CREATE Center for the Arts. We focus on the elements of art, such as line and color, and use principles, such as movement or balance to increase the understanding of design. We often introduce Master artists and techniques to show how elements and principles can be used together (such as Van Gogh, Mondrian or Picasso) to enhance the work of art. Students will experience painting, drawing, printmaking, and more.

While learning the foundations of art, students also learn to take projects from concept to completion with planning, brainstorming, teamwork, time management and execution of an original concept. These all help to give students the tools and a stronger foundation for continued education in their other academic subjects.

Our goals for the summer are mainly to give these kids a safe, cool place to escape the summer heat while expanding their minds and inspiring creativity. In the process, we will expose them to several mediums and processes in art and give them a look into art history.

The purpose of the program is to inspire creativity and creative thinking while providing a safe, fun and comfortable environment during the summer months. As CREATE Center for the Arts grows, we look forward to offering more summer programs and reach more students.
