DIVE in to Swim (2022-2023)

The Palm Springs Swim Center is over the moon excited to partner again with the Anderson Children’s Foundation. In 2021 ACF funded our first project “Time to Swim”, which helped the Palm Springs Swim Center purchase a new Colorado Timing System with 12 new touchpads. This equipment allowed the Palm Springs Swim Center to host multiple youth age group swim meets this year. The Elite Otters Swim Team held a swim meet that was a huge success with 18 teams, 60 coaches/officials, and over 620 youth swimmers. Multiple swimmers, coaches, and parents said this was the best swim meet ever. All of this was made possible by ACF funding our first project “Time to Swim.”

Fast forward to June 2022 when the Palm Springs Swim Center Aquatics Director, Lindi Mills received confirmation that ACF had funded the “Dive in to Swim Project.” This project will help Palm Springs Swim Center purchase “championship style” starting blocks, new deck anchors, and block covers. The new starting blocks will allow local youth swimmers the opportunity to practice daily on starting blocks that will help prepare them for Championship Swim Meets. One local youth swimmer from Elite Otters Swim Team, Ava Otteson just qualified for Futures as a 14 year old!! “Ava has goals of making Junior Nationals, and Olympic Trials in Indianapolis, and possibly the Paris 2024 Olympics,” said Head Coach Laura Otteson. The Palm Springs Swim Center is becoming a premiere destination to train athletes to compete at local, regional, and possibly national swim meets. The Palm Springs Swim Center is extremely thankful and excited to partner with the Anderson Children’s foundation to help keep the Olympic Dreams alive for our local, regional, and national youth swimmers!!

TIME to Swim (2021-2022)

The City of Palm Springs Parks and Recreation is excited to partner with the Anderson Children’s Foundation. The TIME for Swim project was created to allow local swimmers from Palm Springs area the opportunity to have sanctioned USA Swimming Times and to host Championship Swim Meets. By purchasing a new Colorado Timing System and Touch Pads, the Palm Springs Swim Center will be able to host multiple local, regional, and possibly national swim meets. The swim meets will help generate funds to keep the Palm Springs Swim Center open for years to come. Thanks to the Anderson Children’s Foundation, our local swim athletes will be able to continue reaching their goals of swimming in college and making the USA Olympic Swim Team. We appreciate the support from the Anderson Children’s Foundation and look forward to what the future holds for our local swim athletes.
