California Desert Chorale

Honor Choir (2020-2021)

The California Desert Chorale has been presenting quality musical performances for over 25 years. It is an inclusive, non-ecumenical chorus of between 60 - 70 members from all walks of life, ranging in age from the teens to the eighties and representing all areas of the Coachella Valley and a wide spectrum of professions. The Chorale has made a commitment to music education for the valley's young people by giving scholarships to high school students as well as Internships to music students at the College of the Desert.

This Honor Choir is designed to reward music students for outstanding leadership and musical achievements. Teachers in each music department at the high schools throughout the Coachella Valley will each select up to four students to participate in the Choir. There will be workshops, master classes, and rehearsals culminating in a concert. The students will have an opportunity to interact with and learn from some of the most respected musicians (current and past) in the California Desert Chorale, both in rehearsals and master classes. In addition, we want to make sure the students know that a professional choir exists and that there are many people with the same interests here in the valley that can help them as they go forward with their music education and careers.
