Vision Screening and Lice Prevention (2015-2016)

Borrego Community Health Foundation (BCHF) will provide high quality vision screening and exams for children in the Coachella Valley Unified School District living at or below 200% Federal Poverty Level (FPL). The project “Sight Happens” will use age and developmentally appropriate outreach activities in the promotion of vision screenings and will facilitate the importance of eye health in the community. BCHF will provide vision exams and screenings to (400) children and provide (100) glasses in the Coachella Valley and surrounding communities. Vision screenings, exams and community outreach services and activities will be provided at outreach events, schools, Centro Medico Oasis and Centro Medico Coachella.

Dental Equipment (2013-2014)

The Borrego Community Health Foundation provides dental treatment for elementary-age children in the Coachella Valley, many whose families can’t afford healthcare. BCHF visits all 14 CVUSD elementary schools to screen and treat children’s dental problems. All students from kindergarten through sixth grade are eligible for complimentary treatment. This year, the foundation will add another dental chair, allowing two students to receive treatment at once. Dental Assistants meet with children to teach them about proper dental hygiene, and send referrals for complex cases to the Borrego Dental clinic.
