Desert Preschool Academy

Outdoor Preschool Playground Equipment (2024-2025)

Desert Preschool Academy is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides little to no cost childcare to low income families. Currently Desert Preschool Academy has seven sites providing services in the desert Indio, Coachella, La Quinta, Mecca, and Thermal California. Desert Preschool Academy is excited to receive the 2024 Anderson Children’s Foundation grant that will allow us to install a playground at our newest Indio, California site. The playground will be designated to serve children ages 6 weeks to 3 years of age, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility for all. A playground plays a crucial role in the development of children. Promoting physical fitness, social interaction and cognitive development. Research shows that outdoor play enhances children’s creativity, problem solving skills, and overall well-being. By providing a safe and engaging playground, we are aiming at creating a positive and enriching environment for children under our care.

The services we provide allow the parents/guardians that we serve to work and/or go to school while having their children in a safe and nurturing environment. The grant will allow us to put outdoor equipment that will allow children to go out and play. Having adequate shade and equipment will allow Desert Preschool Academy to provide a safer environment for the families we serve. It will allow Desert Preschool Academy to provide children with the appropriate physical activity they need.

Playground Equipment (2019-2020)

Desert Preschool Academy is excited to receive the 2019 Anderson Children’s Foundation grant that will allow us to install a shade structure in our Indio, California site. Desert Preschool Academy is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides little to no cost childcare to low income families. Currently Desert Preschool Academy has three sites in Indio, La Quinta and Mecca, California. The services we provide allow the parents/guardians that we serve to work and/or go to school while having their children in a safe and nurturing environment. The grant will allow us to put a shade structure that will allow for children to go out and play in the hot summer months. We are aware of the high cost of replacing the playground equipment and see the current lack of shade as being our largest deficit. Having adequate shade will allow Desert Preschool Academy to provide a safer environment for the families we serve. It will allow Desert Preschool Academy to provide children with the appropriate physical activity they need.
