Musical Project (2023-2024)
This project will take place after school three times a week for 15 hrs. each day. It will run for the entire school year from September 2023 to May 2024. Two music instructors and one dance instructor will be running the program serving from 70 to 150 students. It will be held at Cesar Chavez Elementary School located in the Coachella Valley Unified School District located in Coachella, CA. The program will be divided into groups designed to learn to play violin, guitar, trumpet or a different instrument. Another group will be assigned to learn the steps of the dance preselected in coordination with the music instructors. The end product of this project will be presented at different school and community events. Music and dance programs are in high demand by parents of our school and in the community due to the fact the school district does not provide music or dance classes to elementary students. With our purchased items we will give students the opportunity to learn to play an instrument and perform for school and community events. The students learning folkloric dances will be able to perform along with students playing the songs as they exhibit their costumes purchased with these funds. Participating in this project will help enrich students’ lives as they explore their surroundings. The global view of their community will broaden and the experience obtained when participating in each event will help them develop self-confidence that in turn will help raise their self-esteem.
